The besmart.vision cloud platform controlling collaborative robots will facilitate the assembly of battery packs for electric vehicles

Atende Industries signed a contract with Wamtechnik for the commissioning of a battery module assembly station based on collaborative robots (cobots) controlled by the besmart.vision platform. Wamtechnik is a manufacturer of battery packs, including battery packs for electric vehicles. The besmart.vision platform using deep machine learning allows for intelligent control of robots, so they can perform activities reserved so far only for people, for example, recognition of the objects type and their position in three-dimensional space. In the case of the Wamtechnik implementation, the robot with besmart.vision, will be able to unpack packaging with battery cells, run their diagnostics tests and place them in the targeted cell holders. The robot station will release the operator from the responsibility to do the most tedious part of the production process and will let him focus on important activities related to the launch of the module.

The stand based on intelligent robotics will be launched as a service, including the delivery of two collaborative cobots and the service of controlling them via the besmart.vision cloud. Automation of the battery pack assembly station will enable Wamtechnik to ensure constant high-quality production, maximize efficiency and increase the economic efficiency of the process.

Expected breakthrough in production will not be possible without intelligent robotics, which is one of the basic operational technologies of Industry 4.0. The replacement of people with robots in production processes has a particular importance in the modern world facing challenges like global epidemics or the usage of renewable energy (adapting the consumption rhythm to the energy production profile). The besmart.vision platform for intelligent robotics, developed for years by Atende Industries, aims to help in this transformation.

“Nowadays automatization is one of the key determinants of the production lines innovation. We are constantly investing in the development of the production plant, increasing work efficiency, improving parameters. Stabilizing the processes taking place during battery assembly is one of our main goals for the coming years. Automation and robotization of production lines fits perfectly in achieving these goals. Together with Atende Industries, we intend to expand the scope of cooperation, hoping that this project will be a seed for further projects. The world presents us with new challenges in the field of designing and producing battery packs, not only in the field of electric vehicles, but power supply for the industry. Line automation supports us in these challenges.” says Dariusz Czepiel, Vice President of the Management Board of Wamtechnik.

“The implementation at Wamtechnik is the premiere of the besmart.vision platform, developed since 2019. We have already carried out a series of tests and believe that in cooperation with such a reputable partner we will show the true potential of this technology producing battery modules, which are very important for the current economy. We want our products and technology to contribute, at least to a small extent, to solving the problems of the modern world. Intelligent robotics, next to intelligent energy, are two great technological challenges that we all must face “- says Pawel Pisarczyk, President of the Management Board of Atende Industries.

Wamtechnik is one of the largest and leading battery pack assemblers in Europe. The company has been operating on the Polish and European market for almost thirty years, producing dedicated battery packs for the industry. It is a specialist in the production of lithium and lithium-ion batteries. It is authorized by manufacturers such as Panasonic or Saft Batteries. Wamtechnik cooperates with world leaders in the industry, distributing their batteries and accumulators (PANASONIC, SAFT BATTERIES, LG CHEM, SAMSUNG, EVE, ARTS ENERGY).

Atende Industries is a company from the IT and high technology sector that has been providing innovative solutions for Industry 4.0 for over 10 years. The activity of Atende Industries is focused on the development of cloud platforms for Industry 4.0, such as the besmart.vision platform for intelligent robotics and besmart.energy – a platform for modern distributed energy. The company has developed and implemented software for the AMI system for the largest smart metering system in Poland, implemented by Energa-Operator (1.4M meters).
