Besmart.energy platform in Energy Cluster Green Podhale

The Ochotnica Dolna municipality reached an agreement with Atende Industries for the development of personal citizen energy within the Energy Cluster “Green Podhale”. In the project 27 intelligent meters based on Phoenix- RTOS operating system were installed in local government units and objects of public utility facilities and the platform besmart.energy was shared for energy management in the energy community; Atende Industries and the Ochotnica Dolna municipality will be cooperating over the pilot implementation of the innovative production model, energy from renewable resources storage and distribution. Ultimately the new system will be available for all cluster members’ usage, including citizens and other entities from the region. AGH University of Science and Technology from Krakow ensures the role of work coordinator.

“I am extremely satisfied that Atende Industries company chose specifically the cluster in Ochotnica for the testing of their ultramodern and intelligent solutions. The sheer montage of metering and implementation of software went extremely smooth and what’s more important effectively and already brings results! Finally we can perform a very complex analysis of production and usage of electric energy in our facilities. Finally we have an intuitive and precise tool for predictions and balance sheets of energy.” says Tadeusz Królczyk, mayor of the Ochotnica Dolna municipality.

“The aim of every organized energy community’s actions is maximization of economic profits for energy recipients, while preserving set standards of the delivery’s quality. To pursue such a scenario- especially a currently desired one- obtaining an appropriate level of net’s observability is crucial, and that means the ability to monitor and balance energy in a certain sector as well as the ability to control sources existing there, receptions, energy storages and specific elements of distribution network’s infrastructure. The technical beginning of such actions is an energy meter, the more “intelligent”, the greater are the positive effects of its work. Pilot works pursued in Ochotnica Dolna within the KlastER project financed by NCBiR (National Center for Research and Development) show that in a group of well cooperating partners innovative concepts can be implemented in practice with success. I am sure that the current operating system in the near future will take on a significantly greater amount of measuring points and will bring the Municipality and its citizens actual, measured in PLN, profits”- says dr. of Engineering AGH professor Zbigniew Tadeusz Hanzelka.

Within the cooperation Atende Industries delivered and installed intelligent meters with Phoenix-RTOS operating system. The difference between those devices and the traditional ones is their enabling for actions of energy management applications and strict integration with energy managing cloud platforms. This allows for transmission of measurement parameters of electric energy practically in real time (e. g. with minute resolution) and using those meters for communication with other devices installed on the recipient’s side (e. g. energy storage, PV inverters). The meters performs a function of an energy assistant, which significantly improves management of an energy cluster in a way allowing for precise adjustment of energy supply for local demand and introducing truly effective dynamic electricity tariffs.

“Besmart.energy platform was created as a response to the developing need of personal citizen energy. It is a system, which manages energy within an energy community. It allows not only for settling community users (e. g. energy cooperatives), but primarily is used for optimisation of energy usage available locally. In present, recessionary times, the development of energy cooperatives stops being a domain of visioners and scientists but becomes a real need. I’m glad that the Ochotnica Dobra Municipality along with AGH develops solutions that can become a point of reference for other municipalities in Poland,”- says Paweł Pisarczyk, chairman of the board Atende Industries.

In the Ochotnica Municipality i. a. Energy Cluster Green Podhale has been created, within which actions are taken aiming for improvement of the environment’s condition, air quality, energy security and strengthening of local economy due to optimisation of used locally energy resources, including renewable energy resources. In the Municipality there are installed 700 prosumer installations, and its development is directed towards increasing energy efficiency and conscious electric energy management. The actions undertaken along with Atende Industries will contribute to the increase of Municipal Authorities and its citizens’ consciousness regarding production and usage of energy. They will also lead to a greater usage of green energy and will assist in decision making regarding future investments.
